Care Instructions for Leather
Genuine leather possesses a natural capacity to evolve. As it is used, its surface becomes increasingly supple, while its luster and tonal depth develop gradually over time. These subtle transformations give each piece an individual character, shaped by its environment, handling, and history. Rather than remaining unchanged, leather reveals its beauty through the process of aging.
We hope the leather piece you have chosen, carefully made by skilled artisans and brought to you through us, will remain part of your everyday life for years to come. We believe that well-made objects deserve to be lived with and cared for, allowing the materials, craftsmanship, and stories behind them to endure. Caring for leather need not be complicated. A little attention, given consistently, is enough to preserve its beauty and character.
Prevention
Preventive care begins with an awareness of leather’s natural qualities. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, high temperatures, and excessive humidity may affect its color, texture, and overall condition over time. Contact with water should also be avoided whenever possible. Harsh chemicals and cleaning agents may damage the surface and should not be used. Thoughtful placement and everyday handling therefore play an important role in preserving the leather’s character.
Maintenance
Maintenance may be carried out occasionally and with a light touch. For everyday care, use a soft, dry cloth to gently remove dust and surface dirt. If the leather requires more thorough cleaning, lightly dampen a soft cloth and wring it out well before wiping the surface gently. Avoid excessive moisture and friction, and allow the leather to dry thoroughly after cleaning.
Leather may naturally carry a distinctive scent when new. This is a normal characteristic of genuine leather and will gradually soften with time. If the scent is particularly noticeable, simply leave the piece in a well-ventilated place for a while and allow it to dissipate naturally.
Storage
Thoughtful storage further supports the longevity of your piece. We recommend keeping leather in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space, protected from direct sunlight, high temperatures, and high humidity. If the piece becomes wet, gently press it with a dry cloth to absorb the moisture, then allow it to air-dry naturally in a well-ventilated place. Avoid using a hair dryer or other heating appliance, as direct heat may affect the leather’s condition.
When not in use, we recommend keeping the piece in its accompanying storage bag. This helps protect it from dust while allowing it to rest safely between uses.
